Purposes of Edification

“…till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ...“ Ephesians 4:13. 

In the last post I mentioned that the aim of five ministries were to edify us. Where does edification lead us or what are the aims of it? God’s is intending to bring us all to the unity of faith and also to make us like Christ through knowledge of Him. 

Unity of faith is not that we logically agree in all points, but that we have deep inner convictions and live our lives based on them. Knowledge of Jesus is not some intellectual understanding of what He says, but living that knowledge out, embracing it, enjoying it and staying in it.

Christ Lives Inside Through Faith

“…that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith…” Ephesians 3:17. 

Becoming a Christian is one thing and staying one is another. Converting to Christianity is a single experience and living a Christian life is a daily challenge. We may often forget that being a Christian is really imitating Christ, believing His teaching and following it. If you want final authority on any question you have you need to address to Jesus words. Go to the gospels and try to see what He said regarding this or that question. Jesus’ words are a Supreme Court in your life. Believe His Words and practice them in life. Easier said than done? Yah, but Jesus did not promise us an easy life. But it will surely be interesting.

Unsearchable Riches of Christ

“To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ…” Ephesians 3:8. 

In the first and second chapters of Ephesians Paul clearly showed us the riches of Christ. He showed us full scope of redemption. He gave us all possible blessings, cleansed us with His blood, adopted us, accepted us in Him, forgave our sins, gave us wisdom and prudence through Him, gave us inheritance, sealed us with His Holy Spirit, seated us in Heavenly places with Him and many more…Wow! He deserves all the glory for that.

Conquered through the blood of the lamb

Revelation 12:11: “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

People have various misconceptions regarding what conquering and triumphing is all about. And they often justify all means to achieve their end. I do not agree to the idea. Real victory is over evil and your selfishness. You win against the spiritual enemies first. And you do it by believing in the blood of the lamb: Jesus Christ. That’s what real spiritual victory is all about. 

Perfect in him

Colossians 2:10: “and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.”

Fullness in this verse basically means perfection. Christ is the only way to achieve it. We have to abide in him if we expect to reach it. The only perfect human being that ever walked on the face of the earth was Jesus. Ok, Adam and Eve were too before the fall. No other one was perfect in a real sense of word. However, as God sees us through the sacrifice of Christ we may attain perfection. At least, we should try to go after it. As we attempt to follow Jesus and stay in his words we are well into becoming perfect in the eyes of God. Why? Because if you are in him you are like him. It means you are perfect.
